Our Stainless Steel and Paint is Safe, Free of cancer causing BPA, and Lead Free Klean Kanteen is a reusable, light weight, risk-free stainless steel container free from leaching. Made from surgical grade 304 L.N. stainless steel (18/8) which is blended specifically for: food preparation, dairy, brewing, various medical uses such as metal pins, and where mineral migration is unacceptable. Our stainless steel is put through a passivation / electropolishing process which seals the surface and prevents minerals from migrating into the contents. Klean Kanteen used Monarch Laboratories to do a 48 hour sterile water test at room temperature. Test report #222812 revealed that no nickel could be detected (0 ppm). Tests also show our bottles to be lead free and safe for use with juice, milk and other beverages. The color is provided through an Epoxy paint that has been tested to be lead, mercury, chromium and cadmium free. It’s dishwasher safe (although we recommend hand washing to retain maximum color).

Purchased the bottles at the beginning of December. Within the same month my whole family now has one. I am getting ready to order 2 more so my boyfriend has 2 and so would I. I would love to have one that I can leave on my desk and one that I have at home. Easy to clean (vinegar and baking soda and warm water) does not keep odors, fits in all cup holders, easy to bring anywhere. We all have the 27 oz. and find it to be the perfect size. I can not say enough good things about them. I too opted for Klean Kanteen vs. Sigg because of the lining they use in their bottles.
I order the 27 oz. bottle with the poly loop cap. I am more than happy with this product. I had a plastic bottle that was fine until I started hearing everything about BPA. Well since I can’t take glass to work or the gym I had to come up with something else. The stainless steel is great. Not only is it safe, but it naturally keeps the water cold for longer. The bottle is lightweight, but seems very sturdy. The wider mouth does take some getting use to when drinking, but it great when I filling it up from my Brita pitcher or putting in ice, and I have not yet experienced any leaking. I have filled the bottle up the night before and there has been no taste from the bottle when drinking the next day. Another plus was the ability to buy multiple caps. I have never been a fan of the sports cap, but it is a must at the gym when using a treadmill. I use the poly loop cap at work, that comes with the bottle, and bought the sports cap for $2.95 to use at the gym. I will definitely be buying the smaller bottles with the sippy top for my kids when the time comes.
This is a great product. I purchased this as a gift, but have one myself and it works well. The only downside to this product if you do not have the sport lid and you want to drink on the road, it’s hard to not spill the water due to larger opening.
